Nursery Lead at East Hoathly
I trained as a nursery assistant in East Sussex and worked in several different nurseries and then as a nanny before having my own children. I returned to child care after a gap of eight years, to work in Children’s Centres, particularly working with vulnerable families. I not only worked with the children but also the parents, building relationships and gaining their trust. This was very difficult and challenging at times but also very rewarding to see the families achieve their goals. ‘Baby Time’ was one of my personal favourite sessions to deliver, as I was supporting parents to build better attachments with their babies, then able to watch them grow and develop skills for the first time. I have worked at East Hoathly Nursery for a year now and have been involved with the journey the nursery has had. I get real pleasure in seeing the children thrive and developing their skills, in their enabling environment. I very much enjoy working alongside the school because I can see the benefits it brings to the children. I think the transition into reception class is much easier for the children here. I work with a great team who are committed to getting the best from the children.
I am always keen to gain new qualifications and I’m currently working towards my level 4. I have two children and when I am not supporting their activities such as horse-riding, I’m always on the go – if I’m not decorating cakes, I’m decorating around the house!
