Class Teacher at Chiddingly
I studied English and Sociology at Brighton University, before going on to complete a PGCE, and have been teaching for five years. I taught Year One for two years in my first school, before teaching supply at a range of schools across East Sussex. I then moved to Year One and Two at Chiddingly in December 2015.
I live in Hailsham with my husband and our three dogs. I am a real animal lover, and have a bit of a menagerie at home! I have a passion for writing, and like to write stories in my free time. My first book, written for young adult readers, is due to be published in October 2018! I think this is why literacy is one of my favourite subjects to teach: I love hearing the unique ideas the children come up with, and the fact that they are unrestricted by the ‘rules’ of fiction: if they want to write about a floating tree that’s home to a family of octopuses, they can!
I lead Art and DT across the federation, which are subjects I absolutely love. In my free time I enjoy knitting and crochet, and like to bring this enthusiasm for creating something new to my art lessons.
Chiddingly is a fantastic place to work, and I love being part of the Pioneer Federation. We have achieved so much in a short space of time, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
